Vietnam visa guide

1. General Terms

Foreigners entering and exiting Vietnam must have a passport or a valid document in lieu of a passport (hereinafter referred to as passport) and must obtain a visa issued by a competent Vietnamese state agency. Vietnamese people residing abroad bring papers issued by competent foreign agencies that are valid for entry and exit from that country and this document form has been officially notified to Vietnam and approved by the Government. If a competent Vietnamese agency accepts it through diplomatic channels, it may use that document to enter Vietnam.

To obtain a visa for visitors to work in Vietnam (commercial, investment, labor visas…) companies and organizations in Vietnam must directly contact the Immigration Department (CQLXNC) ) – Ministry of Public Security / Consular Department – Ministry of Foreign Affairs… submits an application for approval to receive visas for guests (except for tourist visas), after being approved in writing by these agencies, the Company sends a document in writing. 2. Documents submitted at the Embassy of Vietnam include:

– 01 Visa application form with photo.

– Passport or valid document in lieu of passport (hereinafter referred to as passport).

– Written approval notice of Immigration Department or Consular Department, Department of Foreign Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City.

– For visitors who enter under the visa category NG3, NG4 can submit a Note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the host country / concurrently or a note from the diplomatic mission or consular office of the country. outside the home country.

Note:

Foreigners need to (i) contact agencies, organizations and individuals inviting or guaranteeing in Vietnam to carry out procedures to apply for visa approval from the Immigration Department (Ministry of Public Security) or the Consular Department, Department of Foreign Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) or (ii) contact the Civil Service for guidance.

The remaining validity period of the passport must be at least 1 month longer than the validity period of the visa applied for. However, many airlines require passports to be valid for at least 6 months before boarding.

For overseas Vietnamese to visit relatives without a passport, if they bring a document issued by a competent foreign agency that is valid for entry and exit and the sample of such document has been officially notified. To notify Vietnam through diplomatic channels, submit: Visa application form (Visa application form), papers issued by competent foreign agencies valid for entry and exit from that country.

Foreigners entering Vietnam under unilateral visa exemption can stay up to 15 days (can be extended once for no more than 15 days for tourism purposes, provided that they have a travel agency). international travel guarantee 03 days before the expiration of temporary stay) and must satisfy the following 4 conditions:

i) Passport must be valid for at least 06 months from the date of exit

ii) At least 30 days from the time of last exit from Vietnam under the visa exemption category

iii) Not on the list of prohibited entry to Vietnam. In case guests from the visa-free countries unilaterally do not satisfy one of the conditions (i, ii, iii), when entering Vietnam, they need to apply for a visa.

Foreigners are granted visas at international border gates in the following cases (only for guests who have received a phone to approve personnel from the Ministry of Public Security):

vi) Entering Vietnam to participate in emergency incident handling, rescue, rescue, prevention of natural disasters, epidemics or for other special reasons at the request of competent Vietnamese authorities ( Article 18 Immigration Law 2014).
